Speaking of New York State oysters–we were, just last week–we’ve got some free tickets to give away to Jimmy’s No. 43 Thursday night oyster shindig. From 7 to 9 p.m. the back room (it’s at 43 East 7th St.) will be given over to Karen Rivera and Jim Markow, who are at the forefront of the movement to restore Long Island’s oysters and its oyster industry through a co-op of growers in the Peconic Bay. The pair will talk about how oyster farming works, but more importantly (at least at dinner-time) they’ll be shucking somewhere between 600 and 800 of the Peconic Pearls and Mystic oysters they raise. The cost is only $20, but the next five people who subscribe to Edible Manhattan, Edible Brooklyn or Edible East End will get 2 tickets each. But here’s what you need to do to win: Email your subscription receipt to info@ediblemanhattan.com.” Awww, shucks!
