New York Botanical Garden Ticket Giveaway: The Spanish Gardens

Who knew the gardens of Spain were just a hop, skip and a swipe of a Metrocard away? For three glorious months (May 21st-August 21st) the New York Botanical Garden presents Spanish Paradise: Gardens of the Alhambra.

The majestic Alhambra, a Moorish fortress in Granada, Spain, will lend inspiration to the festivities.  From poetry to flamenco dancing, home gardening demonstrations to the food and culture of the Alhambra, there are activities to suit any palate.  This weekend not only marks the opening of the celebrations, but Sunday is also the first installation of the Food and Culture of the Alhambra food demos and tastings.

Edible, being concerned with all-things Edible, wants to let you in on the fun. We have a few passes to give away to four lucky people who comment on this post with the answer to this question: “The Moors of the al-Andalus region of Spain were known for their cultivation of citrus and olives.  What are you known for sowing in your garden?”

Just like the Moors utilized local ingredients in their cooking, our upcoming Eat Drink Local Week encourages restaurants to do the same, incorporating the Week’s Seven Ingredients of the Day into their menus. New York Botanical Garden is a partner for Eat Drink Local Week and we are excited to promote the wonderful programming that they do in an effort to get New Yorkers into the garden and thinking about the plants they use for food and drink.
