Brats, Beer, Red Wattle Ham Chops, Pickled Tongue, Sauerkraut & Choucroute Garnie

That's Jason, chef, choucroute master and our host on the right.

We thought that string of succulence would get your attention. It’s just a bit of the menu (the rest is below) for our next all-you-can-eat communal beer dinner on December 6th at Almond on 22nd Street. And we are excited about this particular event not just because it’s only $40 or that it’s all you can drink Stella Artois, Leffe and Hoegaarden, or because the chef is a fantastic seasonal American cook — and he is — but because the chef is, well, hilarious. When we first met Jason Weiner and his brother Anthony (congressman Anthony) we were planning to sit down for a proper feature about what a chef and a congressman who made agricultural policy grew up eating. But the transcript of the two was so funny, we printed it pretty much as is. So rest assured this’ll be good, especially since we’ll all be sitting family style. We’re not sure if chef Weiner is joining us at the table, but we’re putting in a special request, right now.

PS: Did we mention Almond has a leather-bound pool table?
