The owners of Great Performances and Katchkie Farm–the Manhattan catering company and not-for-profit upstate agriculture center we wrote about last year–are launching a workplace CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) program for those who work too late to hit their neighborhood pickups, and the sign-up season is starting now. All you have to do is get 20 co-workers to sign up and they’ll create a pick up site at your office. For more information call 212.727.2424 and ask for Brooke or send an email to email@example.com. You can sign up for a regular non-office CSA at one of their four other Manhattan pick up locations.

Now that we’ve tested our spud-mashing skills at Thanksgiving, it’s time for those of us celebrating Hanukah to turn our attention to the potato pancake. Specifically, the third annual Latke Festival our sister publication Edible Brooklyn is putting on with Great Performances at the Brooklyn Academy of Music on December 19th. (If you haven’t snagged your ticket here, now’s the time.)
In the past we’ve always worn heels to the Greenmarket’s swanky annual fundraiser–usually held at some fine hall here in Manhattan–but this time around we’re considering more practical footwear. In conjunction with Harvest Home, another non-profit group that runs farmers’ markets in the city, they’re hosting their first-ever dance party next Wednesday night, December 7th at the Bell House in Brooklyn. (It’s just a block or two from the F/R train.) Edible Brooklyn is co-sponsoring the shindig, which they’re calling the Winter Warm Up.
In case you missed the call for entries in the current issue of Edible Brooklyn, we wanted to let you know that our sister publication is on the lookout for fantastic recipes for latkes, and there’s no reason the contest shouldn’t be open to those in the borough of Manhattan.
