There’s no better time of year for a staycation in New York City than October, just as the leaves begin to flush with color and the night chill starts to snap back.

Dreams of lazy day trips to Long Island and weekend campfires upstate ensue, but for those of you who can only venture into the next borough, it’s cool. We’re bringing the best local food and beverages to you with internationally inspired flavors that let you can travel the world with each bite.

Here is a taste of the local vendors joining us in Manhattan for our 7th annual Edible Escape on Thursday, October 19, at Pier A Harbor House.

Badshah

Badshah layers the robust flavors of Indian street food with the richness of home-cooked dishes found across Southeast Asia. Folks rave over their cauliflower appetizer, an Indo-Chinese-style preparation that uses sesame seeds, onion, tomatoes and fiery chiles.

Manousheh

Manousheh is a Lebanese bakery that brings the staple breakfast food of Beirut—a decadent flatbread—to NYC. The dough is made fresh each day, then smothered in sweet or savory toppings such as zaatar, labneh, vegetables and meat. Try the Avocado + Zaatar that comes with bright cherry tomatoes, fresh mint, Lebanese olives, and cucumbers drizzled with sumac and olive oil.

Ghost and Grits is an instant favorite with its Indian-inspired barbecue—think Indian spice meets Tennessee smoke—that pairs creative ingredients like lemon preserves, ghost pepper jam and cabbage raita with traditional smoky southern flavors. Wölffer Estate Vineyard

Wölffer Estate Vineyard is an award-winning, sustainable, family-owned winery on the East End of Long Island.
