Every day is Food Day for us, but once a year the entire nation tunes in: on October 24, organizations around the country will be raising awareness on topics ranging from safe food to factory farm reform to food access initiatives. Join 1,000,000 of your closest friends in the annual Big Apple Crunch — a symbolic, communal action in partnership with GrowNYC in honor of Food Day — or participate one of the many events happening around the city. We’ve rounded up some of our own picks below.
- Susan Rockefeller’s new short film “Food For Thought, Food for Life“ will be showing at Pioneer Works in Red Hook on Sunday, October 25 at 3:00 p.m. Our editor in chief Brian Halweil will moderate a panel after the film featuring farmer Annie Novac, chef Peter Hoffman and former White House chef and NBC food analyst Sam Kass.
- Triomphe is rolling out a special celebratory Food Day menu.
- Eataly’s producers will be sharing their stories (and samples!) from 12:00—6:00 p.m.
- Greene Hill Food Co-Op is hosting a Halloween open house.
