Celebrate the release of Louisa Shafia’s new cookbook, The New Persian Kitchen with a four-course tasting menu of Louisa’s recipes, prepared by acclaimed chef Sara Jenkins of Porsena.  Louisa herself will be helping out, making the koloocheh dessert pastries.  For reservations, call (212) 228-4923 or visit www.porsena.com.  Copies of The New Persian Kitchen will be available for $20 and will be signed by Louisa.

First course

Fresh herb platter sabzi khordan

Potato cakes with tamarind sauce kotlet

Grilled shrimp with lime powder and parsley olive oil sauce

Cucumber and watermelon salad

Mid course

Grilled liver w/ cumin, garlic and fresh basil

Vinegar carrots w toasted sesame seeds

Cold pistachio soup with mint and leeks soup-e pesteh

Choice of entrée

Spicy tamarind fish stew ghaliyeh mahi

Chicken kebab in yogurt marinade joojeh kebab

Entrées come with Rice with rose petals and barberries zereshk polo, Shallot yogurt mast-o musir, and Mixed pickled vegetables tort

Date and walnut filled cookies koloocheh, with Persian tea
