Tonight, he’ll give you a lesson in the do’s and don’ts of brewing beer at home, along with tips on how to taste beer with a panel of experts that will includes John LaPolla of local homebrewers’ mecca Bitter & Esters, beer educator Sam Merritt of Civilization of Beer, and homebrewer-turned-pro Chris Cuzme of 508 Gastrobreweryand Fuhmentaboudit, along with several more of New York City’s most innovative brewing personalities.
After the panel concludes, you’ll be drinking to a soundtrack of live music by The Bailen Brothers. Described by Entertainment Weekly as one of the “Top 5 indie discoveries of the CMJ music festival,” the band’s compositions have been called “impressively crisp, with a flawless brass section and two-part vocal harmonies to rival Simon & Garfunkel.”
Everyone gets a tasting pour of at least four different beers, with snacks to pair with them, and some lucky audience members will have a chance to taste the beers brought in by local home brewers as well. They’ll join the panelists in voting for the best home brew in the mix.
