On Tuesday WYNC radio hosted a lunchtime panel for bartenders, servers and others in the restaurant industry in honor of Restaurant Week called “Out From Behind the Apron.” The panel included an attorney who represents restaurants, a director of the New York State Restaurant Association, someone from the Restaurant Opportunities Center, author Malachy McCourt, the former of Malachy’s in the East Village, restaurateur Ed Schoenfeld and of course, a blogger: “Bitchy Waiter.” More importantly, the mikes were opened up to the actual servers behind the apron who came to take part in the discussion on tipping, discrimination in the restaurant world and countless other irritations. You can listen to the discussion — past panels have brought together cabbies and others in the car service world — right here.
