Info Session: 2020 Responsible Urban Beekeeping Training, December 2
If you’re a community gardener with an interest in adding an apiary to your local green space, New York City Beekeeping is here to help. Liane Newton and the team at NYC Beekeeping will be taking questions on applications for their 2020 training program and discussing previous community beekeeping projects they’ve helped facilitate. The session is open to all gardeners—whether you’ve applied already or are just considering it. Successful applicants will receive a full season of training, a sustainable apiary kit, and ongoing support from the NYC Bee Health Group.

Women and Mental Health: A Gala Celebrating Wellness, December 5
Nadii, a community supporting women’s mental health, hosts an evening of conversation and good company. Panelists discussing mind/body health include: Dr. Fahimeh Sasan, co-founder of KindBody and practicing obstetrician-gynecologist, renowned yogi Sarah Finger, psychotherapist Liz Beecroft, Drs. Griselda and Miguelina Rodriguez of Brujas of Brooklyn, and author Palak Vani. Indian gastro restaurant Baar Baar will be providing bites and drinks, and donations from the evening will benefit women’s mental health charities PERIOD and Exhale to Inhale.

Turkish Cooking Classes: Traditional Preserves, November 30, December 14 & 21
Just in time for holiday gift-giving, learn to make your own fragrant, spiced preserves with this class from the Turkish Cultural Center of New York. The chef-led class will start off with a meal of Turkish lentil soup, served with whole grain bread, Turkish tea, and preserves. Students will make and take home two jars of pickled vegetables, a jar of fruit jam, and a jar of fruit compote. All recipes are free from artificial ingredients, gluten, soy, eggs, dairy, and nuts.

Vegan Wine & Cheese Tasting, December 5
Sommelier and Certified Wine Educator Sunny Gandara leads this class on understanding and pairing vegan wines and cheeses. Gandara, who’s also a vegan cook, blogger and the U.S. brand ambassador for Querciabella, a leading vegan, organic and biodynamic Tuscan winery, will take you through old and new world vegan wines, paired with Riverdel’s house-made cashew cheeses and other U.S.-made nut cheeses.
