Shake. Stir. Taste. Whether you frequently leave your friends ooh-ing and aah-ing over your mixologist skills or you’re just starting to explore spirits you have the chance to test your bartending skills at Speed Rack’s pop up cocktail competition at Good Spirits on March 8.

Created and produced by Lynnette Marrero and Ivy Mix, Speed Rack is a nationwide competition designed to highlight trailblazing women in the cocktail industry while giving back to those impacted by breast cancer.

But on March 8 you don’t have to be a bartender to participate in the cocktail showdown. Throughout the night, in addition to sipping cocktails such as daiquiris from Owney’s Rum, herbal and floral cocktails from Maison Premiere and Gramercy Tavern and munching on bites from up-and-coming chefs and food artisans, you can test your cocktail skills against top bartenders. Competition rounds will take place every half hour during Good Spirits—simply sign-up for a competition slot (for free) at the upstairs bar at Pier A Harbor House. When you’re up you’ll spin a wheel of classic cocktails such as gin and tonic, negroni and more. Spin well as whatever it lands on confirms which drink will be made during your competition.

You’ll face off against top Speed Rack past participants before handing your cocktail over to either Julia Ritz Toffoli, Women Who Whiskey founder and principal, Edible editor Ariel Lauren Wilson or publisher Stephen Munksin for judgment. The winning drinks will likely be auctioned off at the bar with proceeds going to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation.

Edible Good Spirits will return to Pier A Harbor House in New York City on Thursday, March 8. The event will run from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. Tickets start at $50 per person and are available for purchase online now. For more information about Good Spirits, please visit the event’s website.
