With Halloween and a cool, sunny autumn weekend ahead of you (keep your fingers crossed for the latter), you’re probably just as excited as we are about figuring out that 11th hour costume and how to carve the pumpkin into the Grumpy coffee logo.
Halloween gives all of us the perfect excuse to buy a bag of our favorite candy (or two, or three… for the trick or treaters, of course). And the sweets we’re featuring this week are not only classic treats, but they started out right here in New York too, so check them out on our site and then check a bag of them out at your local grocery store!
As mentioned earlier, we’re guessing that some of you may be getting into the spirit of Halloween by carving pumpkins… or, apparently, some may be smashing them with catapulting forces. Yes, that’s right, the smashing, or chunking, of pumpkins is a new form of entertainment that you can learn more about here, and you can even witness it this weekend, if you dare!
One more thing you do not want to miss out on this week is buying your ticket to the November 2nd event at Chelsea Market that is going to be the ultimate treat, as it will keep your week sweet even after Halloween has come and gone. Twenty chefs will be preparing their favorite New York Times recipes for you to try at the book launch event and tasting for “The Essential New York Times Cookbook” and “In the Kitchen With a Good Appetite” with authors Amanda Hesser and Melissa Clark. It gets even sweeter because not only is this a book launch and a tasting event, but it’s a benefit for the Wellness in the Schools Program. And since we are the media sponsor of this event, you’ll definitely be hearing more about it!
