We wish this announcement came on some brilliantly sunny day where spring dreams of sweet greens and strawberry pie are already dancing in your head like so many springy garlic scapes, but we are nonetheless proud to present the 2011 Ingredients of the Week. For those that need a reminder, each year Edible Manhattan, Edible Brooklyn, Edible East End and other Edibles in our foodshed host Eat Drink Local Week, seven days dedicated to doing exactly that. We do it with the help of wine shops, food markets, Greenmarkets, wineries, farms and last but not least, restaurants, the latter of which will be featuring these fantastic seven ingredients below from June 24th to June 3oth. They were chosen with your help, and a few of you lucky readers are getting free subscriptions for your thoughts on what to feature. Look for more on each of these fine foods, and why we chose each of them, in the coming weeks and don’t forget to post your spring food photos to our Eat Drink Local Flickr pool. Now, onto the good stuff:
