Love plantains? You must go to Patacon Pisao, if you haven’t. The namesake dish is a Venezuelan sandwich where two flattened, fried tostones act as bread. The fillings—from beans to meat to sweet plantains—provide enough options to keep anyone happy. Since 2005, when they opened their business at a food truck, they’ve opened in Queens, Washington Heights and this Lower East Side, with no signs of slowing down. Don’t skimp on the delicious house-made sauces, either.
