Buttermilk Channel

524 Court Street Brooklyn NY 11231

Back when Governors Island was farmland, dairy farmers would travel by boat to Manhattan to sell their milk.  Apparently, the tidal channels were so strong that according to some, the milk would be churned into butter upon docking in Manhattan.  Today, the Buttermilk Channel we think of is the delightful one in Carroll Gardens that serves up American bistro fare.  Vegetarians take note, there is an entire menu just for you.
