The High Line Presents New York City Honey Day

During Honey Day at the High Line, visitors are invited to taste their way through New York City’s honey offerings, and meet beekeepers from all five boroughs.

HONEY MARKET: MEET THE BEEKEEPERS
2:00 – 6:00 PM, All ages
New York City Honey Day will welcome the best artisanal beekeepers from the city’s five boroughs. Visitors will have the opportunity to learn more about urban beekeeping in New York City, taste and compare honeys, and even purchase honey to take home.

DEMONSTRATION HIVE WITH LIVE BEES
2:00 – 6:00 PM, All ages
14th Street Passage, on the High Line at West 14th Street
Brooklyn Grange will host a honey bee exploration station where visitors of all ages can get an up-close-and-personal look at live bees making honey. Sharpen your eyes to spot the queen bee or catch a glimpse of the nuanced “waggle dance” that bees use to communicate the location of nectar hot spots.

PLAY WITH YOUR FOOD: HONEY WITH LA NEWYORKINA
3:30 – 5:00 PM, Ages 4+
Seating Steps, on the High Line at West 22nd Street
Friends of the High Line and Fany Gerson, the chef behind La Newyorkina at the High Line, invite kids and their caregivers to take part in a fun, interactive exploration of honey. Kids will be invited to try different local honeys and then learn how to make their own honey-granola topped parfait.
