Per Gilt City:
“When a legendary butcher from Chianti, Italy makes an appearance at Mario Batali’s Del Posto, drop everything and visit the restaurant for a five-course meal that will blow your mind.
Yes, dear Gilt City members, we’re talking to you.
Dario Cecchini’s the kind of butcher that exhibits an unmatched respect for the animal he’s working with. And it shows: you’ll most certainly taste the love when you savor his meat, prepared with equal care by Del Posto’s Executive Chef Mark Ladner, in the restaurant’s gorgeous Piemonte room.
Start your meal with a tartar of beef crudo—and move on to a sumptuous serving of baked meatballs soaked in a spicy pepper sauce. You’ll feel like you’ve landed on the boot itself when you sample a serving of decadent Florentine roast beef.
Dishes will be paired with two not-to-be-missed wines from Fondoti—an estate known for its classic Chiantis and Super Tuscans.
There’s no saying when Cecchini will be stateside again. So unless you’re planning a trip to one of his three restaurants in Chianti, we’d suggest you beeline over to 10th Avenue. Stat.
A cocktail reception from 7-8 pm on January 24th will kick off the evening with Del Posto Executive Chef Mark Ladner’s selection of passed assaggi (hors d’oeuvres), bellinis and Fontodi Chianti. The five-course meal, which will be served at 8 pm in the Piemonte room at Del Posto, will include:
- Sushi del Chianti & Ramerino in Culo (beef tartar crudo and cotto)
- Cosimino in Salsa Ardente (Medici-inspired baked jumbo meatball served with spicy pepper sauce)
- Tenerumi in Insalata (boiled beef and raw vegetable salad)
- Magro Fiorentino (Florentine roast beef)
- Carne in Galera (braised beef with Tuscan herbs)
Guests will also enjoy wines from Fontodi, including the Fontodi Chianti 2005 and the legendary Super Tuscan Flaccianello.”
