We Always Did Think of April as a Purple Onion, & August as a Peach of a Month

Illustrations by Claudia Pearson

If you can stand one last post related to the New Year, we’d just like to call your attention to the best desk calendar we’ve come across in some time, sent to us as a holiday gift from our friends at Greenmarket. Their 2011 Buy Local Calendar, designed by artist Claudia Pearson, assigns a piece of seasonally appropriate produce to each month. We can’t wait for the purple onions of April. Or actually what we really want is the asparagus of May. No! What we need is the berries of July and the corn of September! Until then, we’re also quite happy with the pears of January. As luck would have it, you can get your very own from Etsy.com right here.
